In the academic year 2019-20, 300 first, second and third year students of Arts, Commerce and Science students enrolled in NSS. The following programs were organized by the National Service Scheme team for holistic as well as social development of student volunteers, development of their personality, inculcation of a sense of national unity and discipline in them, and participation in social causes.

- International Yoga Day: On 21st June 2019, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, a demonstration program was held with the help of Ambika Yoga Seva Kendra. For this event Director of Ambika Yoga Seva Kendra Mr. Kashinath Patil and his collegues Mr. Kiran Tambulkar, Mr.Yogesh Patil, Mr. Manikan, Mr. Ketan Gharat, Mrs.Rajshree Patil were present.
- Martyrs’ Day and Independence Day: On 14th Auguest a tribute in form of silent rally was paid to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives in Palghar area to liberate India from the yoke of captivity. NSS Volunteers were present at that time. The President of Sonopant Dandekar Shikshan Mandali Adv. G.D. Tiwari offered a wreath to the martyrs. Principal Kiran Save paid his homage to the martyrs.
- Eye Check- up Camp: An eye checkup camp was organized with the help of NSS Voluenteers on 22nd August 2019 in the college. College teachers, staff, students from various disciplines as well as NSS volunteers got checked their eyes.750 successful eye testing were practiced within a day and prescribed the solutions to students, teachers and non teaching staff.
- International Youth Day : International Youth Day was celebrated on 29th August 2019 District Supervisor of District AIDS Control Palghar, Prafullata Churi with her colleagues. Prafullata Churi and her colleagues informed the volunteers about AIDS, its symptoms prevention and care to be taken. Approximately 500 bottles were collected and disposed off.
- National Service Scheme Day: Since last 51 years, September 24 is celebrated as National Service Scheme Day. The program was planned by the volunteers themselves. Principal Dr. Kiran Save was invited as the chief guest. He made aware volunteers about the bright tradition of NSS of SDSM College and satisfaction of participating in social work. On this occassion 30 trees were planted in college premises to commemorate these day.
- Plastic Bottles Collection : Around 400 plastic bottles and garbage was collected by NSS volunteers from college campus itself. NSS volunteers also requested students to avoid throwing of plastic bottles at campus and maintain cleanliness.
- October 02 Ahinsa Rally: On the occasion of birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Sonopant Dandekar College and Lions Club of Palghar jointly organized “Non- Violence Rally”. NSS unit of college participated in rally with strength of 300 volunteers. A symbolic chariot was drawn for the rally called “CHITRARATH” with the symbol of Charkha.
- Voter Awareness race: Voting is our right and people needs to get aware about this. NSS volunteers took an oath to participate in the rally which was 5 kilometers long from S.T. Kadam Vidyalaya to Devisha Road Palghar.This run was organized on 9th October 2019 under the Collector SVEEP program. Its main objective was to create awareness in the society about voting and make an appeal to the people “let’s vote”.
- National Unity Day: Every NSS unit respects the “UNITY”. Unity Day was celebrated on the occasion of birth anniversary Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. NSS volunteers proudly came together to take pledge in Unity.
- Cleanliness Drive: On 5th January 2020, NSS volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive at Kaldurg Fort, Waghoba. Trekking and cleaning mountain it was the aim of this event lead by Asst. Prof. Bhushan Bhoir and Leader volunteer Neel Mehta. 75 volunteers participated in this event.
- Street Play : On 17th January 2020, B.Sc Nursing students of J.J. College performed a street play on the disease of ‘Seeker Cell’. Students of National Service Scheme assisted in organizing this program.
- January 26, 2020 : On 26th January 2020, Bahujan Samata Prabodhini, Virar awarded Sonopant Dandekar College an insignia for its outstanding work in various social fields through the National Service Scheme. NSS volunteers visited Ranle Lake, Samata Nagar, Manvel Pada Virar East and created awareness about reducing the use of plastic through street plays.
- Mangrove plants cleanliness campaign : On 2nd February, 2020, the work of cleaning the garbage, plastic bags and bottles, beverages can, and other pharmaceutical waste got stuck in Mangrove Plant near the beach at Shirgaon. NSS volunteers and Rotary Club of Palghar conducted cleanliness drive to clean the beach and plants.
